Whether for fitness, self-defense, or martial arts mastery, Element Martial Arts provides a supportive environment for students to advance.
Discipline, Lifestyle, and Fitness
Kung Fu is more than just a martial art; it’s a transformative lifestyle that instills discipline and fosters personal growth. Through consistent practice, students develop a strong sense of focus, perseverance, and self-control. The rigorous training promotes physical fitness by improving strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance, while also enhancing mental clarity and resilience. The structured nature of Kung Fu encourages students to adopt healthy habits, respect for tradition, and mindfulness in everyday life. As a holistic practice, it supports overall well-being, teaching balance between body, mind, and spirit for a fulfilling, active lifestyle.
Self-Defense and Combat
Kung Fu is an effective martial art for self-defense, offering practical techniques for real-world situations. The art emphasizes precision, timing, and adaptability, allowing practitioners to defend themselves with minimal effort and maximum efficiency. Whether it’s learning to avoid physical confrontation through de-escalation or using powerful strikes and defensive maneuvers to protect oneself, Kung Fu equips students with the skills to stay calm under pressure. The emphasis on control, not aggression, ensures that combat techniques are not only effective but responsible, teaching practitioners how to defend without unnecessarily escalating a conflict.
At Element Martial Arts Calgary, we are honored to offer Kung Fu lessons under the guidance of Master A. Piercey, a seasoned martial artist with over 30,000 hours of teaching experience. We proudly welcome Kung Fu enthusiasts and former students of the Kung Fu for Life community, following the closure of their dojo. Master Piercey and the Element Martial Arts team are excited to offer a new home for former Kung Fu for Life members and encourage our current students to experience the depth of traditional Kung Fu training.
About Master A. Piercey
A Lifetime of Dedication: Master Piercey’s martial arts journey began at the age of four and has spanned decades of rigorous training. His expertise is rooted in the Shaolin Kempo system, which focuses on self-defense through precision, timing, technique, and control. This style emphasizes practical, real-world application over tournament-style competition, stressing the importance of verbal de-escalation and non-violent conflict resolution.
A Family Legacy: Martial arts are in Master Piercey’s blood. His father, Grand Master D. Piercey, was a renowned instructor who spent over 20 years training under the legendary Grandmaster O.E. Simon. After founding Kung Fu for Life in 2005, Grand Master D. Piercey passed the torch to Master Piercey in 2011, where he continued to lead the school until June 2023.
A Martial Art of Dedication: Kung Fu, which translates to "time and effort," is a discipline that demands consistent practice to develop not just physical strength, but also a disciplined mind and calm spirit. Join us at Element Martial Arts to immerse yourself in this transformative practice under the tutelage of a master with unparalleled experience and a deep respect for Kung Fu’s traditions.
